Hi Everyone and Welcome
Today over at A Vintage Journey its Tag Friday! I'm sure many of you are familiar with this tradition but for those of you who aren't let me explain. When there are 5 Fridays in a month, the 5th Friday sees some of the Creative Guides create and post a tag. There are no rules or themes just a chance for us to follow our muse, go with the flow and create a tag.
With the new changes we have brought in for our birthday year we thought YOU might like to join in with our Tag Friday creativity. There isn't a prize and we're not promising any comments but there will be a Pinworthy tag chosen by the challenge host that month which will be pinned to our pinterest board and showcased in the following months Winners post.
To enter all you need to do is link one or as many tags that you have created in that 'Tag Friday' month (i.e 1st to 31st March). The linky will close midnight on the day the new Challenge starts for the following month (i.e 6th April) so there will be one week to link up your entries . Hope you will consider joining us and enjoy creating some tags of your own.
So now for the tag I have created .... Alot of you will have probably gathered by now that I am a BIG Seth Apter fan so having recently indulged in some of Seth's fabulous new release products. I was eager to try them all out. Of course I couldn't neglect some of my older faves too!
Here are Seth's new release products I worked with - all of which are now Faves with a capital 'F'
and the additional mediums I used
I also used a couple of Seth's stamps from some of his previous releases and some torn book pages and chocolate box lining paper.
The main tag is a #10 MDF Tag from That's Crafty and the smaller tag is mountboard.
Not many process pics today - I was too busy enjoying the products and the creativity! So instead a tour around the detail ....
The chocolate box lining paper and torn book pages create some lovely texture on the main tag.
whilst the 'drying up' remains of a tub of crackle paste add both crackle and texture to the smaller tag.
Of course I couldn't wait to use a couple of Seth's New Baked Texture embossing powders. The two flavours I baked with were 'Deep Sea' and 'Rocky Road'. They complimented and enhanced the colour tones of the paint perfectly. Boy are they super impressive pots of 'awesomeness!!'. Believe me you NEED them in your creative life!
I love how the 'Deep Sea' merges so seamlessly into the Rocky Road which adds some chunky texture to the edges of the tag
as well as giving a look of molten tar when held in certain lights!
I continued the embossed 'baked' blend around all the edges of both tags being much gentler with application on the smaller tag. I admit I had to adopt alot of restraint from throwing it everywhere and anywhere I could- Rocky Road is this grungy lovers fairy dust!
So it goes without saying really that the focal feature was 'baked' too. It was created using one of Seth's fabulous new stencils, 'Spinner'. The stencil design was 'twice baked' with Rocky Road then cut out piece by piece and adhered to a layered mountboard circle to recreate the stencil design. One of Seth's circle stamps makes an ideal delicate marking beneath .
The centre is embellished with a metal button and a Tim Holtz Ideology hitch fastener
which along with the layered circles, mounted onto the smaller mountboard tag gives dimension.
Finishing touches were a Tim Holtz Quote chip, metal eyelets and washer and some colour coordinating mixed fibres.
And there you have it My Tag Friday! I have to say I was really pleased with how this turned out. I had such a great time creating it and Seth's new products were worth every penny!
If you haven't already be sure to stop by A Vintage Journey to see a fabulous gallery of tags created by very talented teamies. Don't forget you can join in with us too. We are really looking forward to seeing all your tag creativity.
