Creative Card Making at A Vintage Journey

Hi Everyone and Welcome .

Thanks for stopping by today. Its another busy end to the week here at ink-a- pink as today I'm back with a quick post to invite you join me over at A Vintage Journey where I am sharing a card I have created for our monthly 'Creative Card Making' feature/ post.

This regular AVJ feature began last March (2018) when we restructured our timetable and the general idea is that on the 4th Friday of every month a Creative Guide will share ideas for making a card. There are no rules other than the finished card has to be in keeping with our preferred genres - vintage, shabby, mixed media, art journaling, industrial, timeworn or steampunk.

This month I am the creative guide taking my turn to host this feature . The card I have created has a colourful, mixed media/ art journalling vibe and features one of my new art mediums: Seth Apters Izink 'Ice' from Aladine.

Here's a few quick peaks of the card....

If you would like to find out more I hope you will accept my invitation and pop by A Vintage Journey's blog where I will be waiting to greet you.

On This Tag .... Time for some Infusions for PaperArtsy

Hello Everyone and Welcome

Happy Weekend! Hope you are all enjoying!

This evening I would like to invite you to join me over on PaperArtsy's blog where I am honoured and priviledged to be a Guest Blogger for their topic: On This Tag.
I have created a 'tagged journal page' that saw me breaking the seals on some of my little bottles of PaperArtsy 'Infusions'
I've used them with PaperArtsy Stamps, primarily one from their Hot Picks Collection (HP1502).

Here's a few close up photos:

The infusions worked their magic to create a page background full of colour, detail and texture .

They also created a tag with a much cleaner and crisp finish!

The Hot Picks stamp collection had some real mileage as it provided the focal feature of the tag

aswell as all the elements and accents on and around the tag.

I would love for you to accept my invitation and join me over on PaperArtsy's blog where there's more to see and read.

Against The Grain - A Vintage Journey Challenge, February 2020

Hi Everyone and Welcome

Today sees the start of a new Challenge over at A Vintage Journey and this time Sara Emily is our host . Her chosen theme is

Against the Grain
"Most of us love the look of wood and there are a lot of art/craft products out there that help us achieve beautiful wood grain, including stamps, stencils, embossing folders, papers and mixed media products. We would love to see how you add a touch of wood texture or appearance to your vintage, shabby, mixed media, art journalling, industrial, timeworn or steampunk projects "

Having been M.I.A from the last few AVJ challenges I am happy to be back today with a contribution for Sara Emily's challenge.
I have used woodgrain cardstock, a woodgrain embossing folder, wood chips and a wood panel to create a mini Art Plaque. And what could be more ideal nestled amongst all that woodgrain than a few of natures beautiful butterflies!

As the challenge theme is all about woodgrain I thought I would use a wood panel as my base. So a quick routle around my mountainous stash of wooden/ mdf bits and pieces unearthed an ideal piece!

I painted the panel with black Acrylic paint and then covered the front with wooden slats that I created using Tim Holtz Woodgrain Cardstock, Tim Holtz Distress paints: Walnut Stain, Ground Espresso, Black Soot and a sanding block.

The butterfly came courtesy of Tim Holtz bigz die: Tattered Butterfly. I coloured it with PaperArtsy Fresco Finish paint: Stone and then to give it a wood grain effect I embossed it using Tim Holtz Embossing Folder: Woodgrain.  The wood grain embossing is highlighted with a distress crayon: Ground Espresso

The smaller butterfly was stamped using one of the many butterflies on Tim Holtz stampset: Flutter. I think this particular one is my most used ... guess that must make it my favourite then but shhhh don't tell the others!! As far as they know I love them all the same!!
It was coloured with distress inks and given a glossy coat thanks to some Glossy Accents.

The butterflies were adhered together at the thorax and placed in situ on a double wood chip mount.

They were framed with a crackled square die cut and surrounded by a 'wild and free' array of sisal fibres.

By doubling up the butterflies like I have it not only added an additional woodgrain effect to my project but it also added some colour and some wonderful dimension.

A Tim Holtz Clippings sticker provided a fitting sentiment and finishing touch.

I hope you have enjoyed your time here with me today and that maybe I have offered some creative inspiration for our 'Against the Grain' challenge.
If you haven't already be sure to pop by A Vintage Journey where there's a fabulous gallery of Woodgrain inspired projects created by some of our talented Creative Guides.

We hope you will join us in the challenge as we always look forward to seeing your creativity.
As always there will be 3 Pinworthy Winners chosen at the end of the challenge and each winner will be awarded with a Pinworthy badge and have their winning project pinned to our Pinterest board.

Thank you so much for taking the time to stop by today.
Your visits, follows, comment and support are sincerely appreciated.
Wishing you all a lovely weekend
Take Care
and
keep on the happy side.
