Tag You're It! A Vintage Journey , August 2020 Challenge

Hi Everyone

Happy August!

Today we launch our latest challenge at A Vintage Journey and I will be hosting this time with the challenge theme:

Tag You're It!
We would love to see what you create with, or on hang tags. Your hang tags can be created from any material or be any size. We would just love to see that iconic 'hang' shape front and centre in your design. Just remember to create your tag project in one of our preferred styles: vintage, shabby, mixed media, art journalling, industrial, timeworn or steampunk.'

Being a grungy girl at heart who's partial to a touch of colour and has 'a bit of a thing' for rusty bits and pieces I've drawn on these loves to create my mixed media 'Tag on Tag' project.

As the host of the challenge I will be sharing details of how I created my tag on Friday 21st August over at A Vintage Journey.
So today I'll take you on a quick narrated tour around the tag.

The rich colour tones that run through both tags are all thanks to Seth Apters fabulous Aladine Izink dye sprays and DecoArt Media fluids. Some resisting, stamping and a touch of stenciling add texture and detail....

... to the printed background design which comes courtesy of Tim Holtz Typeset collage paper.
The design runs in harmony through both the large and small tags.
Alignment was key!

The focal feature is the sum of a few grungy parts.
The rusty round porthole and crackled circle that surrounds are created with Tim Holtz and Seth Apter dies. Both are altered with art mediums, copper eyelets used to embellish.
The central nuts, bolts and bar are 'naturally' rusted by outdoor elements.
They are what I call my 'street swag' - rusty bits and pieces I have found when I've been 'stepping' out.

Some rusty wire wrapped around the smaller tag continues the rusty theme and serves as an ideal rest for the focal feature.....

... whilst a few more rusty bit and pieces provide the perfect hanger for the tag.

It wasn't hard to decide on a title for my tag:
 Finders.....

....Keepers!
Pretty much how it feels when I spy yet another rusty piece. It's like its waiting to be found and I'm the new lucky keeper!

I hope you have enjoyed my narrated tour and that I have offered some creative inspiration for our tag You're It! challenge.
