Book It.....May 2019 Challenge at A Vintage Journey .

Hi Everyone and Welcome

Today sees the start of our new challenge over at A Vintage Journey and this time our lovely Deb will be hosting with the challenge theme

Book It!
'There is nothing better than curling up with a good book to take us away to another place! This month we would like you to think about books- perhaps you will make a book, or a journal, create a journal page showing a scene from one of your favourite books (do please tell us what book!) or a card showing someone reading or made using text, stamps, stencils or word stickers. Just remember to create in one of our preferred styles of vintage, shabby, mixed media, art journaling, industrial, timeworn or steampunk.'

Having recently been treated to Eileen Hull 's new notebook die Debs challenge provided the perfect opportunity for me to 'break it in' and create my own personal notebook that I can use to record my daily 'thoughts' of which I can assure you there are many - probably far too many !!
I really wanted to 'make it my own' so have used colours, mediums, stamps dies and stencils that I love.
The notebook itself is die cut from mat board as I wanted sturdy more durable covers. It's painted with black acrylic paint inside and out. The spine, front and back covers are decorated with panels cut from a masterboard I created.
The masterboard has an initial layer of texture and detail created with varying thicknesses of tissue tape and then its treated to lots of layers of paint and of course gesso - you know I love gesso!
I used PaperArtsy Fresco Finish Acrylics- Mermaid, Inky Pool, Space Cadet and Slime and I have to say I the colour combination is a winner in my book! ( no pun intended)
All the colours were laid down one at a time and as PaperArtsy paints have a drying time of 'now' there was no real waiting time or need for heat drying.
I always love the fresco finish of PaperArtsy paints and I love the 'peaks and troughs' the varying thicknesses of tissue tape have created
Once the master board was cut to fit the notebook covers and spine more detail and interest was added .
Theres some stamping using some of my favourite stamps ( Seth Apter/ Impression Obsession)

and some texture paste stencilling again using some of my favourite stencils (SethApter/StencilGirl®)

The front cover is embellished with yes you've guessed it, some more of my faves -a crackled Seth Apter/ Spellbinder die and a ''Thoughts' Tim Holtz quote chip!
The back cover remains free of 'clutter' as I will be wanting to set my notebook down flat on a surface when making my entries.
The note book is filled with lots of handmade signatures bound together and adhered at the spine. Lots of thoughts need lots of pages- right?
I really am pleased with my new notebook that I've 'made my own' and I am looking forward to christening those blank pages with all my daily musings!

I hope you have enjoyed your time here with me today and that maybe I have offered some creative inspiration for our 'Book it' challenge.
If you haven't already be sure to pop by A Vintage Journey where there's a fabulous ' library' of books created by some of our super talented Creative Guides.
We hope you will join us in the challenge as we always look forward to seeing your creativity. As always there will be 3 Pinworthy Winners chosen at the end of the challenge and each winner will be awarded a Pinworthy badge and have their worked pinned to our Pinterest board.

Thank you so much for taking the time to stop by today
