Shine Brightly!

 Hi Guys 

At the risk of sounding like a stuck record, its the same old story again today letting you know I'm over on That's Crafty's blog sharing my DT make for this week. 

It's an an art panel that features some silhouette florals set against a glowing hot backdrop - all thanks  to Tim Holtz distress inks and oxides and a fabulous Donna Downey stencil.

Whats Up? You Good?

 Hey Everyone, 

It'm over on That's Crafty's blog today and I'm following on from last weeks make (that can be see here and here) having more fun creating with some of Tim Holtz products, namely the newly released Stampers Anonymous stamp set: 'Inquisistive' and the ever so delicious new colour addition to the distress family: 'Prize Ribbon'.

Hi There 

It's that time of the week again when you can find me over on That's Crafty's blog sharing some creativity. 

I've been creating with one of That's Crafty's recently released stampsets (Arty Wings) this week along with another recently released stamp from Aall and Create (Splattered Numbers) designed by Tracy Evans . There's also some of the usual mixed media suspects thrown into the mix: inks, paints and texture paints in one guise or another.

A Trio of Cards , A duo of stamps...

I've created 3 cards using Distress Oxides, Watercolour Paints and a couple of the fabulous PaperArtsy 'mini' stamps designed by Seth Apter.  

The two stamps I have used - EM36 and EM40.- are from Seths first collection of mini's

Carved Leaves Card/s

Hi Everyone and Welcome 

Hope you are all doing good and are enjoying a lovely week 😊 

I've been busy creating and writing blogposts which amongst others has included my weekly DT project and post for That's Crafty . 

This week I have created a couple of card's using Distress Oxides with one of That's Crafty's newer released stamp sets -'Carved Leaves Set 1' designed by Lynne Moncrieff.

Live Gently Upon this Earth...

I know I have created 'Art' recently that could be used as a journal page but I haven't for sooooooo long actually opened one of the many journals I have to make an entry.

How Can You Resist? - A Vintage Journey August 2018 Challenge

Hello Everyone and Welcome

Today we launch our new challenge over at A Vintage Journey and I will be your host this time with the challenge theme  

'How Can you Resist?

'There are many different products in mixed media that you can use to do a 'resist technique'- gesso, distress micro glaze, wax, embossing powders etc. We would like you to use at least one resist technique on your vintage, shabby, mixed media, art journalling, industrial, timeworn or steampunk project '.
I have created a mixed media canvas in shades of blue for my host challenge



As I will be sharing details of how I made this canvas over at AVJ on Friday !7th August I have just a brief account of the creativity and a few photos to share with you today.

I used a couple of Distress Oxides for the 'shades of blue' and 3 different products for the resist techniques

which were Gesso, an old favourite

Remnant Rubs - another old favourite .

and Tim Holtz distress resist spray (a definite new favourite)

I love the speckles of white the distress resist spray creates!

As you will have noticed I also added some stamping and texture paste stencilling

and of course a few of my much loved paint splatters

The focal feature was the sum of a few parts: a Seth Apter woodchip altered with inks and gesso, a square of ink/ resisted card, a crackle paint die cut and a glossy watercoloured butterfly.

All stacked on top of one another to add layers and dimension.
Both butterfly and woodchip were embellished with Tim Holtz Ideology.

Beautiful Greetings

Hello Everyone and Welcome

I have a couple of cards to share with you today that I have made using one of Tim Holtz new 3D Texture Fades. So which one have I chosen to work with? No, its not 'Foundry', 'Mechanics' or 'Lumber' as you would probably expect from this grungy gal, it is infact 'Botanicals'. 

The card design is the same for both cards just the colours and sentiment differ.

Card 1

I used black cardstock for the embossed panels 

I dabbed a distress oxide ink pad over the embossed panel to colour the raised embossing. Then using my finger I rubbed the applied ink into the recesses. Can you believe the DOX I used was fossilised amber !! 

I then ran an old Black archival ink pad over the inked embossed panel and applied gilding wax to accentuate the fabulous embossing. these 3D folders sure do create an incredible impression!

So not really wanting to cover any of it up I simply added a word banner.

Now for Card 2

This was created in exactly the same way as Card 1. This time I used Picked Raspberry Distress oxide,

the same old black Archival ink pad, 

silver gilding wax instead of gold  

and again simply finished off with a word Banner so as not to cover much of the deep, rich 3D embossing! 

I hope you have enjoyed my double offering of 3D embossing today. Thanks Tim for 'enabling' with such an amazing product! Keep them coming ....... :)

Stencil It! A Vintage Journey, June 2018 Challenge

Hi Everyone and Welcome

Hope you are all ok and that the last week in May has been kind to you all. June already!! 

 Where does the time go? 

So as we welcome in the start of Summer and hopefully warmer days and nights (yay) we at
 A Vintage Journey hope you will welcome our new challenge that goes live today. Lovely Astrid is our host and her challenge is 

Stencil It! 

Create a project using at least one stencil, in a style that fits our challenge focus- vintage, shabby, mixed media, art journaling, industrial, timeworn or steampunk. There are so many possibilities to be creative with stencils on your cards, journals, layouts, ATC's or 3D projects. Stencils offer endless possibilities, be creative and have fun!

With our last challenge 'Words and Music' still on my mind and having had U2 playing on a loop ever since, my project for this challenge was highly influenced by both factors. As you are now well aware I am a big U2 fan and I was super happy to have recently come across a stencil of Bono when 'window shopping'! Of course it fell in to my basket , arrived a few days later and I have christened it by creating a mixed media art panel for Astrid's challenge.

The panel itself is a 6x6 mdf panel covered with torn papers: lyrics to the U2 track 'Song for Someone' printed out on copy paper along with the musical score 'bits' from Tim Holtz Melange tissue wrap. Both were adhered and sealed with matt medium .

Distress inks and oxides added colour and were applied using both the wrinkle free distress technique and the blending tool. I continued to 'mess' with the colour throughout the whole creative process.

Tim Holtz grit paste was applied with a palette knife through the positioned stencil of Bono. The stencil is actually A4 in size so I positioned it in accordance to the surface area I was working on.

Once the grit paste dried the stencil was repositioned and black acrylic paint applied to colour the grit paste.

The edges of the panel were embossed with Seth Apter/ Emerald Creek 'Rocky Road' Baked Texture.

I LOVE this flavour and if I had been sure I had enough of those magic granules I would have used them to stencil too - maybe next time! .

Bono's silhouette was highlighted with a white pen

and the finished mixed media panel was mounted onto Tim Holtz metallic Kraft Core and black mattboard.

I have to say I was super impressed with the cut of the stencil as the image is undoubtedly Bono - I'm sure you'll agree.
