The project I am sharing today is a layered mixed media art panel that was born from some leftover pieces I had lying around my desk from last weeks project ( see here) and some time 'well spent' gel printing. I say 'well spent' as I was pleased with all the prints I pulled, which all too often isn't the case!

'Precious Metal'- A Vintage Journey Challenge, July 2019

Hello Everyone and Welcome

Today we launch our latest challenge at A Vintage Journey and I will be the host this time with the challenge theme

Precious Metal

'For this challenge we would like to see some kind of 'precious metal' feature in your project. Think gold, silver, brass, copper aluminium, steel..... It could be in the form of embellishments, cardstock, gilding wax, foil, gold leaf, or rub- ons. Just remember to ensure you create in one of our preferred styles of vintage, shabby, mixed media, art journaling, industrial, timeworn or steampunk.' 

I have created a 'Precious Metal' Mixed Media canvas for this challenge entitled
'Simplify Life'
-kind of a visual creative 'note to self!'

As I will be sharing details of how I created my canvas on the Friday 19th July over at AVJ, I have just a brief account and a few photos to share with you today.

I featured a few different forms of 'precious metal' in my canvas:

Gold and silver metallic paint 

to create layers of fabulous texture and detail. 

Some metal ideology pieces: a philosophy tag and a piece of Vignette hardware,

a game spinner, metal ruler, typed token and a couple of long fasteners which embellish, enhance and provide the canvas's title.

There are also some touches of silver gilding wax

to accent some of the elements

and a 'weather rusted' metal piece of hardware that stars as the focal feature!
I think it may be a sink plug fitting of sorts? I found it on the street when I was clocking up some steps earlier this year, what I call my 'street swag/ boardwalk booty' and I think its just the perfect fit for my precious metal 'Simplify Life' canvas.

I hope I have offered some creative inspiration for our challenge. So today, it being Thursday and all you can find me over at That's Crafty sharing my latest DT project which this week is a piece of Tag Art that has a kinda grungy retro feel. Given the colours and the stars and stripes incorporated in the design you could be forgiven for thinking I created it with  the 4th of July in mind . If I did it was all down to my creative subconscious and if that's what happened then I am more than happy!

Choose to Shine ....at That's Crafty

Hi Everyone 

It's that time of the week again when I'm over at That's Crafty sharing my latest creativity. 

Given the dreary wintery weather of late I felt this week I was in need of some colour so I've 'bigged up the brights' and 'banned the brushes' to create a 'slim and slender' long That's Crafty tag.

Be True....

Hi Everyone and Welcome 

Thanks for checking in today.😊. It's my day of the week to share my latest creativity over at That's Crafty so I am hoping I can tempt you to join me over there with a quick glance at the project I have created using a Gelli plate print, along with some That's Crafty Surfaces, Carabelle Studio stamps, Dina Wakley Acrylic paints and some of my favourite dies and stamps by Seth Apter.

  

I'm pretty new to the Gelli plate so am still very much a novice with lots to learn but I'm enjoying practising and discovering a whole new way to create some great prints to use in my art aswell as plenty of not so great prints to discard to 'the bin'! 

From my latest Gelli print session I did get a few successful 'pulls' that I can see have potential, one of which I have used to create today's piece of 'Mixed Media Postcard Art.'
