Topic 2: Mattints at PaperArtsy

Hi Everyone ,

Yay! It's good to be back 😃. It's been too long!

Tonight, I'm super happy n honoured to be over on PaperArtsy's blog sharing a few projects that I've made for their recent Topic: Mattints. 

I always feel so lucky and priviledged to create with PaperArtsy's fabulous and inspiring products and this time was no exception as I got to 'play' and 'create' with PaperArtsy NEW Mattints and Ellen Vargo stamps .

PaperArtsy Mattints are a 'Tinted Transparent Matte Glaze' and 'Glue' and the first 4 colours ( Glow, Fern, Nutty, Shark ) were release NOV/DEC 2023 with 4 more ( Jam, Squeezed, Dragonfly, The Pink) being release this year Feb 2024.

From spending some much enjoyed Mattint 'play' time getting to know them I soon realised what a versatile product they are - real multi-taskers! They've fast become a welcome addition to my art supplies- my new 'flexible friends'. ;)

During this Mattint 'play' time together we swatched, colour blended, colour mixed, splatted and sprayed and it was fromall of that along with the Ellen Vargo stamps I'd chosen to work with (EEV09) that  sparked ideas for my projects. 

I combined some 'pattern play with some fabric painting to create a collection of projects !!

Fodder Challenge 2023- Lesson 2.

Hi Everyone 

For anyone who missed my post yesterday ( you can find it here)  I am joining in the Fodder Challenge 2023 that's currently taking place, zipping along and drawing ever closer to its final lesson !  Mmmmm and here I am only just sharing the fodder I made in Lesson 2 !  Yes, you've guessed it, I'm running behind and playing catch up ! 

So, given that I'll quit my rambling and move straight on to share some of the papers I made during Barb Smuckers Lesson 2: Collaged Paper Covers. 

To create my papers I enjoyed playing around with a Blue/ Aqua / Mint colour palette using some of my go to paints:  PaperArtsy's Fresco Finish Chalk Acrylics along with brushes, sponges, squeegees and a few mark making bits and bobs. 

I also loved not over thinking things (something I do so often , way too often! ) and just going with the flow.  

Here are the papers gathered together..... 

...... and now they are here in either in smaller groupings or individually (according to the style of their patterns).

Some plainly coloured to begin with. 

 Then the patterned . I like the light and dark contrast of these two and am really taken with the mix of solid and broken dots of the one on the right.  

I do like a pin stripe - even one that not so sharp and sleek! 

I used my non dominant hand to make this one and really like how loose and open the pattern is and the sense of movement it has! Such a quick and easy make 

I love how these two turned out, probably my faves of them all.  The colour palette and all those circles = happy me! :)  

Finally , some speckled papers that have some really interesting detail and depth of patterning to them.  

Barb used her papers to collage the cover of a notebook/ journal so that's what I will be doing with these or I might even use them to make some collaged art panels. Once I've given them a 'new life' I'll be sure to share here on my blog and across my social media accounts ( see links below )

'See Beauty'

Hi Everyone,

Hope you are  doing good and have been enjoying some creative time. 

 

I have a real quick n easy card to share today that if truth be told I actually made a while ago now but never seemed to get around to sharing at the time, or any time thereafter. 

 In fact, the same can be said for quite a few more of my makes too so in the coming weeks / months I'm going to be looking to finally give them all some 'air time' both here and across my social media. Hope you'll stay tuned!

This card was created with some of PaperArtsy stamps designed by Seth Apter (ESA22, ESA23, ESA24) along with some of PaperArtsy's infusions ( Lemoncello, Magenta, Royal Blood)

The shape n design of one of the stamps on Seth's stamp set ESA24 (bottom right on carrier sheet) always makes me think of petals/ leaves (I reckon its got 'cockroach' potential too 😉) so I stamped it repeatedly around a stamped centre circle to create flowers- one in full as the focal, the others in part coming in from the sides

I painted the flowers using PaperArtsy Infusions ( Lemoncello , Magenta) as watercolours.

The background itself was 'washed' with PaperArtsy Infusions (Royal Blood) before being randomly stamped with one of the detail stamps on ESA22. (bottom left on the carrier sheet) . I love the 'broken text' design of this stamp - its a real fave and one I reach for often.

The small circles and circles with longer lines running through them were stamped using part of the design of one of the stamps on ESA23 (top left on the carrier sheet). I dropped some Infusions (Lemoncello) into each to add touches of colour .

 I splattered some PaperArtsy Fresco Finish Acrylic (Snowflake) around and drew in some sketchy white highlights  to 'lift' the black stamping. 

The card was then matt n layered onto white and back card panels with a couple of Tim Holtz Ideology small talk stickers providing the final touch.

Topic #6 Tracy Scott Designer Focus at PaperArtsy

Hi Everyone, 

Gosh, It's been so long ! 

Sorry I went 'MIA'! I started  the year with plans to be more blog and creatively active this year but those 'life curve balls' had other ideas and I had to disappointingly and reluctantly press 'pause' on my plans!! 

So, I'm sooo happy to be back tonight and I couldn't think of a better way to return than with a project I've been making for PaperArtsy and their current 'Tracy Scott' Designer Focus' topic and quarterly 'Texture' theme.

I love Tracy Scott's creativity and her use of bold bright colours.  Although I do use colour more often than I used to (even dare to go bold and bright at times) I can't deny I'm a 'grungy' girl at heart. So, rather than attempting to create 'in the bold, bright style' of Tracy's  I stayed 'true to my creative 'pulse' and created a really grungy, textural mixed media art block. 

I had so much creative fun making my art block with some of Tracy's fabulous PaperArtsy products - some of her detail stamps, stencils, a few of her PaperArtsy Fresco Colours along with some of PaperArtsy mediums- Grunge Paste, Rusting Powder and Crackle Glaze!

Topic #16: Splosh at PaperArtsy

Hi Everyone,

Tonight, I'd like to invite you to join me over on PaperArtsy's blog where I'm sharing a few projects I have created for their current Topic: Splosh!

Now, theres a topic name that grabbed my attention straight away. 

I could see this having the potential to be lots of fun and as I'm someone who loves to splosh/ splatter paint around I was more than happy to be given the opportunity to contribute to this topic thats all about fluid media.

I always feel so lucky and priviledged to create with PaperArtsy's fabulous products and those included this time were PaperArtsy Fresco Chalk Acrylics, PaperArtsy stencils designed by Clare Lloyd, PaperArtsy Minis and Alison Bomber stamps.

My initial idea for some Splosh creativity was born from a childs toy - a SpinArt machine!

I wasn't sure exactly what I would create when I started but ended up with a trio of Spin Art Flower Circles  that would make lovely gifts for family/ friends or they could be given as 'Art cards' (as I call them) - cards thatbe kept after the occasion and displayed as a piece of Art.   

There was plenty of sploshing and splattering involved in their making and lots of fun to be had and when you're having fun why stop, right?

So I created a mixed media Art Panel. Another lovely gift idea!

For this project I decided to switch out my spin machine for an alternative device. I wonder if you guess what it was?

Topic #14 -Colour Study: Triads at PaperArtsy

Hi Everyone

Tonight, I'd like to invite you to join me over on PaperArtsy's blog where I'm sharing some creativity for their current ''Colour Theory' topic.

At the start of the year PaperArtsy introduced a series of topics that focus on the colour wheel and colour theory. The first was in January when the focus was on Complementary Colours the second in June and it was all about Split Complimentary Colours then. The third topic in this series is currently underway and we are looking at 'Triads' - colours that are equidistant from each other on the colour wheel!

I'm really enjoying these Colour Wheel topics finding then informative and very insightful. So, was more than happy to be given the opportunity to contribute to this one and get creative with some triadic colours!

Here's what I made with my chosen triadic colours and PaperArtsy Eclectica stamps designed by Everything Art.

As the story behind my creativity is over on PaperArtsy's blog I'm sharing just a short account here.

To begin I had to decide on the triadic colours I would create with so set about making some colour wheels using PaperArtsy colour wheel template ( downloadable here) and 3 PaperArtsy Fresco Chalk Acrylic colours that played to the basic triad colour palette red, yellow, blue.

Here's the Colour Wheel I selected from the many I ended up with.

It's made with PaperArtsy Fresco Finish Chalk Acrylics Pixie Dust ( the red), Vanilla (the yellow) and Midnight ( the blue)

My chosen triadic colours were 4, 8 and 12 each 3 spaces apart from one another.

Using this Colour Wheel I calculated all the triad colour combinations there were with either 1,2 or 3spaces between them and made some triadic colour combo charts.

Here's just one of them. (The others you can see over on the blog)

With my colour choices being 4, 8 12 there was some colour mixing involved!

My project took some twists and turns along the way starting out as one idea and ending up becoming what you see in the photo above. All that you can read about on the blog while here I'll tell you there was some painting involved...

....some embossed stamping

....and some paper pleating.

Which all came together to give you this 'birds eye view' !!

I plan to share the many other Colour Wheels I made in prep for this project across my social media accounts and in PaperArtsy's FB group PaperArtsy People throughout the duration of the topic so hope you'll stay tuned to see those but for now I would love for you to accept my invite and come join me over on the blog to see and read more.

Minimalism at PaperArtsy

Hi Everyone

Hope you are all doing ok and you've been enjoying a lovely sunshiny summer ?

I keep disappearing don't I? Going quiet both here and on social media but the fabulous sunny weather we've been having this summer has been too good to miss spending alot of time outdoors doing what I can in the garden, clocking up some steps and topping up the Vitamin D. 😎

I have been making just not getting round to blogging /showing what I've made so I have a few projects waiting in the 'wings' that I'm sure I'll get round to sharing in the coming months as the weather starts to change and the nights start to draw in. I hope you'll stay tuned here, my FB and IG too.

The topic has been running now for a couple of weeks and it's moving into its final week so there's already lots of Minimalism creativity to be enjoyed on the blog from some of PaperArtsy talented creative team . So where did Minimalism take me ? What did I make?

I've made an Art Block inspired by some of the paintings of Frank Stella who was a leading figure in the minimalist art movement being one of the first artists linked to this style of art. He was known for his use of geometric patterns and shapes that often had clear transition between areas of colour . His earlier paintings often featured squares / rectangles and it was some of these that served as the initial inspiration for my project.

I share the creative story of my art block (including photos) over on the blog so just a couple of photos here showing the finished project- oops I mean project's'- I couldn't resist making a 'Mini' too! ;)

Split Complimentary Colours at PaperArtsy

Hi Everyone, 

After a much needed short break away from social media and blogging it's great to  be back creating and sharing. 

 To kick start my return I'd like to invite you to join me over on PaperArtsy's blog where I'm sharing a project I've created for their current topic 'Split Complimentary Colours.

It's such a pleasure to create for PaperArtsy using their fabulous products and there's always plenty of fun to be had! No exception this time 😁

This year some of PaperArtsy's topics will be focusing on the colour wheel and colour theory. 

 This is the 2nd colour wheel topic so far this year - the first was in January when the focus was on Complementary Colours this time its all about Split Complimentary Colours.  

I'll point you in the direction of Keren Bakers Introduction blog post for this topic to find out more about Split Complimentary Colours and the designers contributing to this topic share some info on their posts too , myself included so take a look around. 

 Given that I won't repeat myself here but I will tell you the colour palette I created with was Blue - Pastel. 

My main colour was Mermaid Fresco Chalk Acrylic, it's Split Complimentary colours  'Apricot' and 'Rustic Pink' as they are the colours that sit either side of the colour that is directly opposite Mermaid on the colour wheel. 

So what did I create ?? Well, I liked the idea of playing to the design of the colour wheel for my project so created a mixed media piece of 'Art on the Round'. 

My creativity involved colour mixing, stamping, embossing , texture stamping, crackling and even some stitching!!

'Pattern Play' at PaperArtsy

 Hi Everyone and Welcome, 

Tonight, I would like to invite you to join me over on PaperArtsy's blog where I am sharing a project I have created for their current topic 'Pattern Play'. 

It's always such a pleasure to create with PaperArtsy's fabulous products and I am so thrilled and honoured to be one of their 'Creative team' into 2022 contributing to this topic.

I had lots of 'Pattern Playing' fun creating a '2022 'Happy' box that I plan to fill with lots of happy moments, memories, events  (no matter how big or small) that happen throughout my year so at the end of 2022 I can look back and reflect on what I hope will be a box full to the brim with 'happy's'. 

This project allowed for me to create patterned panels to cover the box.....

....along with patterned cards on which to write my happy moments , memories and events.

'Mash Up' with LPC, EGL,EEV, EAB at PaperArtsy

Hi Everyone, 

Tonight, I would like to invite you to join me over on PaperArtsy's blog where I am (as always) happy, honoured and humbled to be a Guest Blogger for their latest 'Mash Up' topic.

This year PaperArtsy decided to introduce some 'Mash Up' topics to the PaperArtsy blog that happen every now and again through out the year.  These are topics when we get to create something using stamps from different designer collections who this time were Lynne Perrella, Gwen Lafleur, Ellen Vargo and Alison Bomber. 

I do love a good 'mash up' but it's the first time I've joined in one of PaperArtsy's so I was super keen to give it a go and see where my LPC, EGL, EEV and EAB creativity would take me and what I'd end up creating as I had no idea when I started out.  

I had heaps of creative fun all of which came together as a multi layered mixed media Art Panel. 

I'm sharing the full creative story of my art panel over on PaperArtsy's blog so just a few photos here to show you  how I brought stamps from the 4 PaperArtsy designers together. 

Starting with one of Lynne Perrellas stamps that just had to be the focal feature sitting front and centre. 

The backgrounds and how they found their place within the layering of the art panel. 

For two of these backgrounds  I introduced a couple of Ellen Vargos stamps used with frescos and grunge paste. The layer sandwiched between was crackle glazed. 

One of Gwen Lafleur's stamps made an appearance as an embellishment 

Whilst a couple of Alison Bombers stamps added text to the the top background layer and part of another gave my art its title: 

'She is in a world of private dreams'.

My Favourite Colour for PaperArtsy

 Hi Everyone, 

Tonight I would like to invite you to join me over on PaperArtsy's blog where I am honoured and humbled (as I always am) to be a Guest Blogger for their current topic: My Favourite Colour.

I've been in my 'happy' place creating for this topic as not only was I working with my favorite colour (ok colours) I was also using Seth Apters stamps.

So here's my 'UNITY' art block- the result of lots of paint layers , detail stamping, a touch of stenciling and some embossing.

Adopt the Pace of Nature for PaperArtsy.

 Hi Everyone and Welcome, 

This evening I''m so honoured and privileged to be over on PaperArtsy blog sharing a mixed media art panel I have created for their current topic: Natures Treasures!

If you know me and and my creativity you will know it's no secret I'm a big Seth Apter fan so I was super happy to have the opportunity to create with some of  Seths new release PaperArtsy stamps.

Lucky, lucky me!! 

Teaming them with PaperArtsy Grunge Paste, Infusions and Frescos made for lots of creative fun and one very happy Amanda.

Embrace

 Hi Everyone, 

I'm over on That's Crafty's blog today in my usual Thursday slot sharing some creativity. 

This week I have created a 4x4 mixed media art panel that I've created working with a minimal palette of PaperArtsy fresco finish acrylic paints and some of Seth Apter Products including his PaperArtsy stamp designs.  It has layers , texture and detail and is named 'Embrace'.
